Immanuel Journal Worksheet
Immanuel Journaling is a process which teaches us “how to interact with God in a way that is absolutely intimate and powerful and changes our life from the inside out. The process can be learned in a few minutes, and most people experience changes from the first time they practice it. Following a simple sequence naturally elicits transforming conversations with God.”
The process starts with gratitude to God, which opens our relationship circuits to begin this conversation. Gratitude is a password into our awareness of the presence of God. Living a life of gratitude is something God encourages and even commands. Gratitude is deepened by the recognition that all good gifts come from God. Then we slow down to learn how God responds to our gratitude. This response back from God is the essential part of interactive gratitude. It is the sign of our connection, that someone cares about what we are going through. What we know about our mind is that when we feel alone that no one is listening or cares about what we are going through, we can easily be traumatized. On the other hand, if someone is tracking with us, trauma is far less likely to occur, and pain can be resolved.
Through the Immanuel Journaling process, God brings healing to the broken interactions we have experienced in life. He does this by telling us:
- I can see you.
- I can hear you.
- I can understand how hard this is for you.
- I am glad to be with you.
- I can do something about what you are going through.
“These five steps form the sequence of thought, rhyming with God. His perfect attunement and validation reveal to us that He truly sees. God is glad to be with us in all circumstances. He is always initiating the restoration of our relationships with Him and others. He is continuously working on our behalf. Immanuel Journaling allows us to be more aware of these truths.”
The last step is to read what we have written out loud to someone so that it is fixed in our brain. Immanuel Journaling can be used in groups and with children as well as adults. It has been used in cultures all over the world in times of crises and disaster. It can be used to reconcile, with two parties hearing from their Creator and agreeing with His truths. It has become a lifestyle tool for many of us.
